Import Assets
Use this option to import asset data into MTW F/A Manager
- Access this option from menu File\Import Assets.
- Data will be import from Excel using the template MtwFaImportAssests.xls.
- This template can be found in the My Documents\MTW-Mgr directory.
- Data must be in the format of this template or it will not be imported.
- Required fields
- The Fields with the red column headings are required.
- The Fields with the black column headings are Optional.
- The Field in blue are required to do book depreciation
- Company Id - This number is displayed on the Select Company Form under the Set Company Option.
- Depreciation method Id- This is the method Id found on the Reference sheet of MtwFaImportAssests.xls.

- Use calendar date for the In Service date. Format mm/yyyy.
- Type 179 - True or False. Whether the property qualifies as 179 property.
- Convention - This is the Convention Id found on the Reference sheet of MtwFaImportAssests.xls.

- Use decimal for the Business percent. 1 = 100%
- Book Fields - required if you want to do book depreciation.
- Book Life
- Book Cost
- G/L Account Id this is listed on the Chart of Accounts report. Menu Book \Chart of Accounts
- Auto & trucks cannot be imported they will need to be entered manually.
- These notes are also included on the reference worksheet of the Excel workbook.
- The asset data will be validated before being imported. If there are any errors the data will not be imported. An Import log will be written detailing the problems.
- The log can be read using menu option File\Import Log.
- The log name is ImportLog with the date & time of validation.
- This log can be found in the My Documents\MTW-Mgr folder.
- Once the data is imported it can be accessed from the Asset Maintenance form.
- The Federal Book depreciation is calculated as the assets are imported.
- Retrieve the imported assets using the search function.
- Review the data in the form, correcting any wrong or missing fields and then save the asset.
- The Federal data can then be copied to the other books using the copy button on the Asset Maintenance form.
- Book depreciation will need to be calculated by running the monthly depreciation function.
- Use Book Depreciation for a Range feature to initially calculate book depreciation.
